About

Alicia Hengel, MA, LPC (WI), LPCC (MN)
(she/her/hers)

Alicia is a licensed mental health counselor in the states of Wisconsin and Minnesota and has been practicing for 9 years. Prior to working at Viterbo, Alicia provided mental health services in both an outpatient and day treatment setting and has worked with individuals ages 3–adulthood. She has a professional interest in working with adolescents and young adults as they navigate through the complex adjustment to college life and has found a great deal of value in working with Viterbo students for the past three years. Alicia is trained in a number of counseling modalities and places a primary focus on taking an eclectic and collaborative approach with clients to address a range of concerns, including homesickness, stress management, anxiety, depression, interpersonal trauma, family relationship challenges, emotional regulation and management, exploring LGBTQ+ identities and mental health, and social relationships

Alicia has a soft spot for the Midwest and is originally from northern Minnesota. She moved to Winona, Minn. to attend college at Winona State University and later spent time in Milwaukee, WI while attending graduate school. After completing graduate school Alicia returned to the southeast Minnesota area and currently resides outside of Winona with her spouse, their three children (ages 2, 5, and 7), and their dog, Cami. She enjoys spending her free time outdoors and also loves to crochet.
