PrepheadThough it maintains its own identity, the Preparatory School of Arts remains closely associated with the university music department, sharing fine arts faculty and facilities, and striving together to provide the local community with outstanding cultural and academic opportunities. Students study under the caring guidance of highly trained and dedicated teachers.

Our program responds to the needs for quality fine arts instruction which fosters each student's creative and subjective behavior through experience in music, art, drama, or dance. The arts, as expressive media, provide ideal settings for the development of critical, analytic, and emotional aspects of personality and intellect.

Mission Statement

The Viterbo Preparatory School of Arts is committed to offering creative arts in a non-competitive atmosphere, designed with care to bring out the creative artist that lies within each student.

From their early beginnings in 1849, the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration taught music, sharing their rich love of song and natural inclination to teach with others. In 1971, in conjunction with the official opening of Viterbo's Fine Arts Center, the Preparatory School of Arts was established as a second department. The Sisters' commitment to the arts is still alive today through a ministry of music education and service at both the baccalaureate and preparatory levels at Viterbo.
