Become an Orientation Leader!

JOB DESCRIPTION 

More than 40 Orientation Leaders will be chosen to assist with the Fall 2013 V-Hawk Orientation Days.  Orientation Leaders assist new students during move-in, orientation weekend, welcome week, and the overall transition to college. In addition to the many responsibilities that go along with being an Orientation Leader, there are also many rewards.   


TIME COMMITMENT 

  • Attend the 3 mandatory training sessions on: 
    • Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 5:30-8 p.m. 
    • Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. – TBD 
    • Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 8 a.m.-5 p.m. 
  • Participate and help with all orientation activities starting on Friday, August 23, 2013 through Sunday, August 25, 2013. 
  • If you will be living on campus come Fall 2013, you will be allowed to move into your residence hall or apartment on the morning of Wednesday, August 21, 2013. 
  • Attend and invite your team of new students to attend the Welcome Back Bash on Thursday, August 29 anytime during 2-4 p.m. in the Mathy Center.
     
  • Attend the Welcome Fest event (a Friday night in September) as a reunion activity with your team of new students and other Orientation Leaders.

Being able to uphold the time commitment is a requirement to being an Orientation Leader. No exceptions will be made. Please make sure this won't be a problem with any of your other extracurricular activities before you interview. 

  

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Welcome new students and families 
  • Serve as a positive role model and resource for new students 
  • Abide by all campus policies & federal/state laws 
  • Help new students become familiar with campus resources and facilities 
  • Facilitate all small group activities 
  • Establish a fun, caring, enthusiastic, and accepting climate in small groups and throughout orientation sessions 
  • Maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA at Viterbo University

APPLICATION DIRECTIONS 

Application and reference letter is due no later than Friday, April 5, 2013 at 5 p.m. On your application you will sign up for an interview. You must be at the interview for the whole time. If you can't make a group interview time due to a class, you may request an individual interview. This exception will only be made for class conflicts.
