Viterbo University Announces 2015 Recipients of Saint John XXIII Award for Distinguished Service

Misty Lown, owner of Misty’s Dance Unlimited; Ernie and Sally Micek, supporters of numerous community initiatives; and Deacon Richard Sage, recently retired executive director of Catholic Charities of La Crosse and co-founder of Place of Grace Catholic Worker House are the recipients of the Viterbo University 2015 Saint John XXIII Award for Distinguished Service.

Congratulations to Jesús Jambrina (middle), associate professor of world languages and cultures and coordinator of the Latin American and Latino Studies Program at Viterbo University, who was presented with the prestigious Medal of the Four Synagogues in a ceremony on campus March 24.

Rev. Dr. Michael Cusato, OFM, an expert in the life of St. Francis of Assisi and the former director of the Franciscan Institute at St. Bonaventure University, will give the keynote address, “St. Francis of Assisi: Pacifist, Ecumenist, Arabist” at the annual Viterbo humanities symposium from 12:30–2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25 in the Fine Arts Center Main Theatre.
