5:45–8 p.m. China Town Hall “Local Connections, National Reflections” – School of Nursing Building 196. The event is free and open to the public. Former President and Nobel Prize Winner Jimmy Carter will present “Current Issues in U.S. and China Relations” in a national webcast beginning at 6 p.m. with a question and answer session to follow. At 7 p.m., an in person presentation entitled “China’s Foreign Policy: The Application of Soft Power” will be given by Robert Daly of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and a diplomat and interpreter in China for 11 years.
6 p.m. Environmental Sustainability Club Meeting – Library 201
The fire sprinkler systems in these buildings will be tested on Friday, Oct. 17: School of Nursing Building, Fine Arts Center, Reinhart Center, Mathy Center, Varsity Athletics Center, Rose Terrace, Clare Apartments, and Marian and Bonaventure Halls. Expect to hear a fire alarm, and react accordingly by evacuating the building. You should not be outside for more than five minutes.
On Friday, Oct. 17, Xcel Energy will turn off the electrical service to the Fine Arts Center while they remove a temporary service. The outage will begin around 8:30 a.m. and is expected to last about one hour. No other buildings will be affected.
Thursday, Oct. 23 at 5 p.m. a Pick Up in Pink Basketball game will be held in the Mathy Center. Any Viterbo student is welcome. Wear pink.
Intramural registration is open: Season Two leagues include: badminton, basketball, competitive and recreational volleyball, and bowling. Registration deadline is Oct. 23 at 8 p.m. Registration can be done on imleagues.com
The Viterbo community is invited to attend the Liberating Leader Tour event from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24 at the Weber Center for the Performing Arts. The event will feature Jeremie Kubicek and Steve Cockram, co-founders of Giant Worldwide, live from London. Participants will learn leadership skills and practical ways to apply the content immediately. The cost is $99 for general admission and $15 for students. The event is hosted by Dahl Automotive and is sponsored by Viterbo, the La Crosse Area Chamber of Commerce, Western Technical College, and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
