VITERBO UNIVERSITY NAMED TO G.I. JOBS LIST OF MILITARY FRIENDLY SCHOOLS
LA
CROSSE, Wis. – Viterbo University has been named to G.I. Jobs 2013 list of Military Friendly Schools, which recognizes
the top 15 percent of colleges, universities, and trade schools nationwide that
deliver the best experience for military students.
G.I.
Jobs asks more than 12,000 schools to participate in their annual survey,
which helps veteran students find schools that are doing the most to
embrace America’s military service members, veterans, and spouses as students
and ensure their success on campus.
Viterbo
University offers veteran students a wide variety of services including an
Academic Resource Center to promote academic success and a career services office
to help them find employment. The university employs a Veteran Services
Student Point of Contact, veteran and student Scott Nieman, whose job is to
help veterans transition to life in college. University chaplain Fr. Conrad
Targonski served in the Marine Corps for 22 years and is a friend, confidant,
and mentor to military and veteran students.
“I am grateful for the staff at Viterbo University as they
made the transition of going back to school as easy and comfortable
as possible,” said veteran student Robert Jobe. “The staff were eager to answer
all of my questions. They worked with me so I was able to understand all of my
VA benefits and how to apply for any additional financial aid I needed. I would
encourage any veterans who are considering higher education to attend Viterbo
University.”
