BEAU WESTON TO PRESENT “ACTING HAPPY MAKES THE WORLD
BETTER” AT VITERBO UNIVERSITY JUNE 29
LA
CROSSE, Wis. – Beau Weston, Van Winkle Professor of Sociology at Centre College
in Danville, Ky., will present “Acting Happy Makes the World Better” from
6:30–8 p.m. Friday, June 29 in the Viterbo University Reinhart Center room 107.
Most people are happy, Weston says. The
world is getting better. Yet many people feel it is naïve to be too happy.
Worse, proclaiming that the world is better means we don’t care about what is
wrong. What is a servant leader to do? Start by serving. Service makes us happy
and what we do to make ourselves happier makes the world better too.
Weston has earned three master’s
degrees and a Ph.D. from Yale University and has received the Kirk Award for
Excellence in Teaching at Centre College. He is an active member of the
Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder, scholar, teacher, and committee
person. He is also active in the community and writes a daily blog, The Gruntled Center: Faith and Family for
Centrists.
“Acting Happy Makes the World
Better” is co-sponsored by the Viterbo Master of Arts in Servant Leadership
program. It is free and open to the public.
