VIVER BRASIL TO PERFORM AT VITERBO UNIVERSITY APRIL

CROSSE, Wis. – Experience exhilarating
Afro-Brazilian traditional and contemporary movement, stunning costumes, and
pulsating percussion and voice as Viver Brasil takes audiences for an inspiring
cultural journey through Brazil when they perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April
19 in the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center Main Theatre.
Founded
in 1997, Viver Brasil is a dance company firmly rooted in the traditional and
contemporary music and dance forms and techniques of Brazil. The company
specializes in bringing to life the African sacred energies that fuel
Afro-Brazilian culture, in addition to presenting jubilant samba, contemporary
Afro-Brazilian dance and carnival.
Viver
Brasil has performed throughout the U.S. They are also committed to increasing
awareness of the rich history of Afro-Brazilian dance, music, and culture
through a variety of performances, workshops, and professional development
opportunities in elementary schools, high schools, and colleges and
universities.
This
performance is part of Viterbo’s Bright Star Season and is co-sponsored by Soft
Rock 101.1 FM, Firefighter’s Credit Union, and by a grant from the Wisconsin
Arts Board, with funds from the State of Wisconsin. This presentation is
supported by the Performing Arts Fund, a program of Arts Midwest funded by the
National Endowment for the Arts, with additional contributions from the
Wisconsin Arts Board, General Mills Foundation, and Land O’Lakes Foundation.
