Viterbo University to Present Comedy of Errors at Pump House Regional Arts Center Dec. 1-Dec. 4.
LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Viterbo theatre and music theatre department will present William Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors at the Pump House Regional Arts Center in La Crosse Thursday, Dec. 1–Sunday, Dec. 4.
Comedy of Errors is a classic Shakespearian farce exploring the thin line between the world of normal reality and the secret world of fear and desire. This production takes a cue from Shakespeare himself by adding new music in the Doo-wop style composed by Viterbo students.
The play the story of identical twin brothers, Antipholus of Ephesus and Antipholus of Syracuse, and their identical twin slaves who were separated as youngsters. Hilarity ensues as the two brothers and their slaves go on a rambunctious adventure of confusion and mistaken identity.
“Something profound is at stake—our identity,” said David Gardiner, theatre and music theatre, the director of the production. “Who are we, really? The play is a comical quest for the true self.”
