The Viterbo community mourns the passing of a wonderful friend and supporter—Marge Reinhart, who was deeply committed to the mission of the university. We extend our prayers to her family and all of her loved ones.
Marge was a friend to Viterbo who was instrumental in shaping the university during many formative years as we were growing our enrollment, facilities, and overall reputation. We were fortunate to have her with us over the course of five Viterbo presidencies. Her watchful stewardship and guidance cannot be understated in importance. She and her husband D.B. were important and generous supporters of many worthwhile community efforts. After his death in 1996, she continued this remarkable legacy by supporting many of the causes that were important to them as a couple.
Times like these allow us to reflect upon the generosity of benefactors such as Marge, who make lasting and inspiring differences in our organizations. Very early on, Marge’s vision and generosity allowed Viterbo to construct in 2003, the D.B. and Marge Reinhart Center for Ethics, Science, and Technology, a critically important addition to campus and an asset to our region.
In 2004, Marge was honored with the Pope John XXIII Award for Distinguished Service and in 2011, she received the Finucan Exemplar of Mission Award, reflecting her lifelong support of Viterbo’s mission and values.
Viterbo will be forever grateful for her legacy, remembering her quiet and generous spirit. Viterbo has truly been blessed by the support and friendship of Marge Reinhart.
