BOSTON BRASS TO COMMISSION WORK FROM LOCAL COMPOSERS
LA CROSSE, Wis. – To commemorate 40 years of the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center, Viterbo will take part in “Fanfares!” a project the acclaimed brass quintet, Boston Brass, has announced for its 25th anniversary.
Local composers are encouraged to submit a fanfare between three to five minutes long for the Boston Brass quintet alone, or for a bigger ensemble which would join Boston Brass on stage. The winning composition will open the Boston Brass concert at Viterbo University Tuesday, Nov. 15 as part of the Bright Star Season.
The goal of “Fanfares!” is to have 25 new fanfares written for Boston Brass, by composers around the globe. Each fanfare chosen will be premiered by Boston Brass at the venue most associated with that composer.
All submissions should be sent to Viterbo University, Attention Caitlin Locy, 900 Viterbo Drive La Crosse, WI 54601. The deadline for submissions is Sept. 16.
