VITERBO UNIVERSITY TO PRESENT VITERBO CHRISTMAS DEC. 4–5
LA CROSSE, WIS. – Experience the beauty and joy of a Christmas feast with choirs, dancers, brass, and pageantry as Viterbo University presents Viterbo Christmas at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5 in the Fine Arts Center Main Theatre.
The main course of this Christmas banquet will be Viterbo’s Concert Choir conducted by music department faculty member Jean Saladino. Viterbo Christmas also will have all the trimmings with guest artists such as the 9th Street Singers, local musicians forming an orchestra and brass ensemble, and Viterbo student dancers. Harpist Elinor Niemisto and Ann Schoenecker, Viterbo music department faculty member, will perform a duet to O Holy Night. There will also be a couple surprise guest artists adding lighthearted Christmas readings and stories.
The event will feature a combination of music, ranging from the traditional The Gloucestershire Wassail to Seven Joys of Christmas, a more contemporary piece by Kirke Mechem. The performance will finish with the audience being invited to sing along to Christmas carols.
“Each movement is based on a traditional carol and is celebrating music of the season from different cultures,” Saladino said.
Viterbo Christmas is part of Viterbo’s Bright Star season and is co-sponsored by John W. Moore, DDS, S.C. and Kerrie A. Moore, DDS, and US Bank, with additional funding from a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board, with funds from the State of Wisconsin.
Tickets are $19 for main floor, $17 for lower balcony, and $14 for upper balcony seating. For more information, contact the Viterbo box office at 608-796-3100 or boxoffice@viterbo.edu.
