VITERBO UNIVERSITY AWARDED FINE ARTS GRANTS
LA CROSSE, Wis. - Viterbo University has been awarded $15,623 through the Wisconsin Arts Board Creation and Presentation Grant Program and $5,000 from the Arts Midwest Performing Arts Fund.
The $15,623 grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board Creation and Presentation Grant Program will be used to support the Bright Star, NexStar, and the Ronald McDonald Arts for Young America Family and School series during the coming year. The grants are awarded on a matching basis. Organizations receiving these funds are required to match state tax dollars with additional public and private funds.
The Arts Midwest Performing Arts Fund is sponsored in part by the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional contributions from The Wisconsin Arts Board, General Mills Foundation, and Land O’Lakes Foundation. The $5,000 the university received will be used to support a public concert and youth choral workshop with Chanticleer, the premier male vocal ensemble in the U. S. Chanticleer will perform at Viterbo Tuesday, Feb. 1.
“Arts Midwest is proud to support Viterbo University in their upcoming presentation of Chanticleer,” said Arts Midwest Executive Director David Fraher. “In these economically trying times, arts events like this not only provide uplifting experiences for audiences, they also create meaningful jobs for those employed in the arts industry—thus amplifying the effectiveness of our funding.”
Over 28,000 adults and 12,000 children attended a Fine Arts Center performance last season.
