FIVE BY DESIGN’S STAY TUNED AT VITERBO UNIVERSITY MAY 5
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The quintet Five By Design will present Stay Tuned at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 5 in the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center Main Theatre as part of the Bright Star Season.
Stay Tuned takes early television variety shows and places them up on the stage. Using vibrant harmonies and comedy, Stay Tuned tells stories of American culture from 1950–66, as they move back and forth between song and skit. Nostalgia will overcome audiences as they hear the quintet sing classic favorites such as Papa Loves Mambo, Sh’Boom, and New York, New York.
Formed in Minnesota, Five By Design is composed of Lorie Carpenter-Niska, Sheridan Zuther, Kurt Niska, Michael Swedberg, and Terrence Niska. The quintet is one of America’s leading symphony pop ensembles and has been preserving the traditions of the American popular song since 1990, the year the group was formed.
This performance is co-sponsored by The La Crosse Tribune, Wisconsin Public Radio, and by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board, with funds from the State of Wisconsin.
Tickets are $25 for upper balcony seating. For more information, contact the Viterbo box office at 608-796-3100 or boxoffice@viterbo.edu.
