PLATINUM EDITION TO PRESENT ROCKIN’ IN AMERICA APRIL 10
LA CROSSE, Wis. – Viterbo University’s Platinum Edition show choir and band will present Rockin’ in America at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 10 in the Fine Arts Center Main Theatre.
Rockin’ in America will feature choreographed singing and dancing to a variety of songs and styles. The musical variation will encompass Broadway, classic rock, swing, pop, and a Christian rock ballad. The audience will recognize popular songs by Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5, a set of songs from the well-known musical Grease, as well as Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd and Call Me by Blondie.
“The show will be fun for all ages,” said Nancy Allen, Viterbo music department faculty member and Platinum Edition director.
Assisting with the design of Rockin’ in America are “two new outstanding young choreographers, Stephan Todd and Kevin Chase,” Allen said. “The two have a very intense style and incorporate many layers into their overall design. The result is a high-energy show.”
Accompanying the choir are numerous guest groups from all over the region. The Coulee Kids Choir, Apple Annies, 9th Street Singers, a barbershop quartet, and local singer Doug Mahlum will appear on stage.
“All ages will be on the stage,” Allen said, “from fourth grade students to 60-year-olds.”
A host of well-practiced guests will be playing alongside the Platinum Edition Band. Audiences will hear various types of drums, bass guitars, synthesizers, saxophones, trombones, trumpets, and pianos. The Platinum Edition Band consists of members of two area classic rock bands, The Remainders and Double Take.
Previous Platinum Edition shows have sold out, and tickets for this performance are expected to go quickly. Tickets are $14 for main floor, $13 for lower balcony, and $11 for upper balcony seating. For more information, contact the Viterbo box office at 608-796-3100 or boxoffice@viterbo.edu.
