LA CROSSE, Wis. – Audience members will journey though the Great Depression, events leading to World War II, and the war years in Ed Asner as FDR, a play by Dore Schary at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 25 in the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center Main Theatre.

Television icon Ed Asner stars in this one-man show. The audience will see and hear FDR’s fireside chats, his controversial appointments to the Supreme Court, his personal life with Eleanor and his discreet affair with Lucy Mercer, his courage to break the Neutrality Act, his dealings with Congress, and the Pearl Harbor controversy.

Asner delivers a fearless performance of the dynamic and powerful leader that was Franklin D. Roosevelt. It is part of Viterbo’s Bright Star Season and is sponsored by James G. Birnbaum Attorney-at-Law, La Crosse Graphics, Wisconsin Public Radio, and by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board, with funds from the State of Wisconsin.

Tickets are $31 for upper balcony seating. For more information, contact the Viterbo box office at 608-796-3100 or visit
