The Old Maid and the Thief at Viterbo University Feb. 12–14
Viterbo University will present The Old Maid and the Thief Friday, Feb. 12–Sunday, Feb. 14 in the Fine Arts Center Recital Hall.
The Old Maid and the Thief is part of the Viterbo University Music Department Chamber Opera Series. Written in English by Gian Carlo Menotti, the opera is a comedy and a twisted tale of morals. It is one act and will run approximately one hour.
“This is an opera people will enjoy,” said Dan Johnson-Wilmot, music department faculty member, who serves as the music director for the production. “It is very humorous.”
Joining Johnson-Wilmot on the production staff are: Dana McConnell, stage director; Jeff Stoltz, costumes; Frank Ludwig, design; Ione Peterson, stage manager and production assistant; Dustin Bagstad, rehearsal pianist; and Judy Stafslien, rehearsal and performance pianist.
The cast consists of Viterbo students Lizzy Curtis, Elayne Juten, Ken Lauer, Ashley Mispagel, Allen Pruitt, and Chelsey Spaeth.
