HAMLET COMING TO VITERBO UNIVERSITY STAGE MARCH 17
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Aquila Theatre Company will bring Shakespeare’s Hamlet to life on the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center Main Theatre stage at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 17.
Arguably Shakespeare’s greatest play, Hamlet is a compelling tale of human discord, personal ambition, and love and revenge. Haunted by the ghost of his father, Hamlet becomes obsessed with the idea that his uncle murdered his father, his mother has been disloyal, and that he must avenge his father’s death. Directed by Robert Richmond and featuring the Aquila Theatre Company’s finest actors, Hamlet seeks to shed new light on this vitally important play for the 21st century audience.
Innovative and dynamic, the Aquila Theatre Company has gained a well-earned international reputation as an outstanding producer of touring theatre by presenting high quality and inventive productions of classical drama. The company has won both critical and academic acclaim for its work worldwide as it changes the perceptions of classical drama by creating theatre that allows the widest possible audience to enjoy these great plays. The Aquila Theatre Company tours extensively throughout North America and Europe and is the Company in Residence at New York University’s Center for Ancient Studies.
This performance is sponsored by The Insurance Center and Hawkins, Ash, Baptie and Company, LLP. It is also supported, in part, by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board, with funds from the State of Wisconsin.
