VITERBO STUDENTS IMPLEMENTING $10,000 GENERAL MILLS GRANT
LA CROSSE, Wis. – Nine Viterbo University junior dietetic students are working with children and their day care providers thanks to the $10,000 General Mills Champions Youth Nutrition and Fitness Grant awarded to the La Crescent-Hokah School District.
The Viterbo students will be providing lessons on healthy nutrition to children and their childcare providers. Twenty-five childcare providers in the school district are taking part in the program. The students will present eight different nutrition and physical activity lessons throughout the school year. The project also provides an outstanding opportunity for the dietetic students to gain valuable hands-on experience, said Viterbo dietetics professor Alida Herling.
Participating Viterbo students are Rebecca Cripe, Cathy Daus, Kate Flood, Jackie Infusino, Amy Morse, Jennifer Poots, Jennifer Uecker, JoAnne Wilson, and Holly Zaiger.
