MEXICAN ECONOMIST AND RESEARCHER TO SPEAK AT VITERBO
LA CROSSE, Wis. -- Mexican-born economist and researcher Miguel Pickard will speak at Viterbo University Wednesday, Aug. 24 from 9-10:30 a.m. in the Fine Arts Center Recital Hall.
The event is free and open to the public. Pickard will speak on the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), and what he says has been the negative effect it has had on Mexico and the Mexican people.
Pickard is the co-founder of the Center for the Economic and Political Investigation for Community Action based in San Cristobal in the Mexican State of Chiapas. He is a graduate of Cornell University and earned a Master's degree in Economic Sciences from the National Autonomous University in Mexico. He has been published extensively and has traveled throughout the world as a speaker and consultant on matters related to the effects of globalization, trade agreements, the World Trade Organization, and grassroots initiatives.
