LA CROSSE, Wis. -- Viterbo University and Western Wisconsin Technical College (WWTC) are collaborating to offer Computer Information System (CIS) students an option in continuing their education. This agreement supports the statewide initiative to increase the number of bachelor's degrees in Wisconsin.

Through this new partnership, graduates from four of WWTC's CIS programs will be able to transfer their associate's degrees toward bachelor's degrees in Business Administration in CIS from Viterbo University. The eligible two-year programs at WWTC are Network Specialist, Programmer Analyst, Microcomputer Specialist, and User Support and Training Specialist.

“This agreement is a great opportunity for students,” said Jack Havertape, academic vice president for Viterbo. “The result is a true '2+2' program. WWTC has a very strong program and this partnership will result in students receiving the best that both institutions have to offer in the Computer Information Systems area.”

According to a recent study by the Committee on Baccalaureate Expansion (COBE), - a joint panel of representatives from the University of Wisconsin System and the Wisconsin Technical College System - Wisconsin lags significantly behind other states when it comes to the number of state citizens with bachelor's degrees.

“These types of transfer agreements are essential to recruiting students to the Coulee Region and retaining them after graduation,” said WWTC President Lee Rasch. “We are very pleased with the results of our existing transfer opportunities with Viterbo, and we hope there will be many more partnerships to come.”

The bachelor's of Business Administration in CIS program will start this fall. The program includes a combination of curriculum and courses from WWTC and Viterbo University. The collaboration allows for more flexible class schedules, financial aid and the combined support services of both institutions.
