GILLIGAN’S ISLAND: THE MUSICAL AT VITERBO UNIVERSITY MAY 2
LA CROSSE, Wis. – Join Gilligan, the Skipper, Mary Ann, Ginger, the Professor, The Millionaire, and his Wife as they try to get off the island in Gilligan’s Island: the Musical at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 2 in the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center Main Theatre.
Gilligan’s Island: the Musical is based on one of America’s most beloved sitcoms and features comedy, heart, love, drama, nostalgia, and sing-able songs. It was written by Gilligan’s Island creator and producer Sherwood Schwartz and his son Lloyd Schwartz. The music and lyrics were written by Sherwood Schwartz’s daughter and son-in-law, Hope and Laurence Juber. Laurence Juber is a world-class guitarist and composer, who was a member of the Paul McCartney-led band, Wings.
As the show begins, the beloved castaways are shipwrecked and searching for a way off the island. By the end of the play, they manage to save the planet, while staying marooned themselves. Updated somewhat to reflect the times, the show stays true to the characters that countless audiences have loved through the years.
Part of the Viterbo NexStar Season, Gilligan’s Island: the Musical is co-sponsored by Radisson Preferred Caterer and Associated Bank and by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board, with funds from the State of Wisconsin.
Tickets are $34 for main floor, $32 for lower balcony, and $27 for upper balcony seating. For more information, contact the Viterbo box office at 608-796-3100 or www.viterbo.edu/finearts1.aspx.
