VITERBO THEATRE PRESENTS GREAT EXPECTATIONS OCT. 8-10
LA CROSSE, Wis.-- Dicken's most famous novel comes to life on the Viterbo main stage Friday-Sunday, October 8-10 in this gripping tale of guilt, revenge, and all the happiness that money can't buy.
Follow Pip, an orphaned and impoverished apprentice who dreams of becoming a fine gentleman, as he travels through his life and the events that shaped the man that he has become. Pip eventually learns that possessions and wealth don't make a man, but that true friendship and the power of a stranger can make all the difference.
Throughout Pip's life he experiences many different kinds of people. The compelling characters of this timeless classic include Magwitch, the fearful and fearsome convict; Estella, whose beauty is surpassed only by her haughtiness; and the embittered Miss Havisham, and eccentric jilted bride.
Viterbo welcomes guest designers Joseph Stanley, a freelance set and lighting professional based in Minneapolis, and Janice Martin, a costume designer from the Commonwealth Theatre in Lanesboro, Minn.
Great Expectations is presented by the Viterbo Theatre Department and is sponsored by The Lukasek Family Endowment Fund.
Performances are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Maine Theatre. Tickets are $12/$15. For more information, contact the Viterbo University Box Office at 608-796-3100.
