VITERBO MUSIC DEPARTMENT TO HOST SERIES OF WOMEN’S EVENTS
LA CROSSE, Wis. -- The Viterbo University Music Department will host a series of events in conjunction with Women’s History Month. All events are free and open to the public.
Dr. Frances Nobert will give an organ recital at the Sr. Joseph the Workman Cathedral at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 28. Nobert is a professor of music at Whittier College in California. She has performed all over the country and the world, including China, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Holland, Italy and Spain. The performance is part of the Lenten Series of the Riverland Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
The Viterbo Women’s Chorale will host a “Festival of Women’s Voices” Monday, March 29 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Recital Hall. Female ensembles from Central High School, Holmen High School, the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, and the Viterbo Women’s Chorale will perform.
On Tuesday, March 30, the Music Department Forum will feature students performing works by women composers from 12:10 to 1 p.m. That evening from 7:30 to 9 p.m., music faculty members will perform works by female composers. Nobert will perform with Viterbo Professor Dr. Timothy Schorr during this concert. Both concerts will be held in the Fine Arts Center Recital Hall.
Nobert will finish her visit to Viterbo by speaking to music students March 30 and 31.
