GUEST PIANIST TO GIVE RECITAL, MASTER CLASS AT VITERBO UNIVERSITY
LA CROSSE, Wis. -- Pianist Eun-Joo Kwak, Ph.D., will give a recital in Viterbo University’s Fine Arts Center Recital Hall Saturday, March 20 at 7:30 p.m.
The recital is free and open to the public. Kwak will be performing a series of works entitled “A Russian Legacy” which includes A Tale of the Preacher and His Worker Balda by Dmitri Shostakovich, three Moments Musicaux, by Sergei Rachmaninoff, excerpts from Piotr Tchaikovsky’s The Seasons and the monumental Sonata No. 7 by Serge Prokofieff.
Kwak will also give a piano master class to Viterbo music students March 19 from 12:10 to 1:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Recital Hall. The event will feature piano students of Dr. Timothy Schorr and is free and open to the public.
Kwak holds a doctorate in music from Northwestern University and is an assistant professor of music at Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee. She also has an international musical career as a performer and educator, traveling to Russia, Asia, and throughout the United States. She has won the Concerto Competition at Northwestern University and earned prizes in other prestigious competitions such as Samick Piano Competition in Seoul and the International Beethoven Sonata Competition in Memphis. She has also released a CD, “Cheng and Kwak Piano Duo,” which was released as Volume Three of “Music from Northwestern.”
