VITERBO THEATRE SPOTLIGHTS FATS WALLER’S AIN’T MISBEHAVIN’
LA CROSSE, Wis.--Viterbo will present a Tony Award winning revue of Fats Waller’s 1930’s Harlem musical Ain’t Misbehavin’ on Tuesday, April 29, at 7:30 p.m. in the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center Main Theatre.
Ain’t Misbehavin’ is a sassy, sultry, and beautiful musical revue that evokes an electrifying energy and is considered one of Broadway’s very best American originals. Ain’t Misbehavin’ features an unforgettable and versatile cast that struts, strums, and sings along with the infectious humor and rollicking musical genius.
Thomas "Fats" Waller, became famous in the Golden Age of the Cotton Club, rent parties, and the new beat: swing. His work ranged from uptown clubs to downtown Tin Pan Alley to Hollywood and concert stages throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Ain’t Misbehavin’ has been nominated for five Tony Awards, winning Best Musical and Best Actress. Ain’t Misbehavin’ has also received the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award and a Special Citation from the Off-Broadway Obie Awards. Featuring songs like "Honeysuckle Rose," "The Joint is Jumpin,’" and "I Can’t Give You Anything But Love, Ain’t Misbehavin’ is what launched Waller’s career.
