AWARD-WINNING VOCALIST PRESENTS MASTERCLASS AT VITERBO OCT. 15
LA CROSSE, Wis. ? On Tuesday, Oct. 15, Viterbo University will present a vocal jazz masterclass with guest artist Ruth MacKenzie, from the Minnesota Dance Theatre, at noon in the Fine Arts Center Recital Hall.
MacKenzie is a singer, writer, and composer who has been a member of the Twin Cities Arts Community for many years. She has received many awards for her work, including, in New York, a Jonathan Larsen Award for Excellence, a 1997 Artist of Note by the Twin Cities’ Star Tribune, Artist of the Year in 1997 by City Pages, and a McKnight Fellowship in Music Performance. MacKenzie is in La Crosse to perform as a vocalist with the Minnesota Dance Theatre’s Rumblings, part of the Viterbo University NexStar series of performances. The vocal jazz masterclass is free and open to the public.
Located in the Twin Cities and dedicated to fostering talent through classical and contemporary training, the Minnesota Dance Theatre and School trains pre-school students through adults in the technical and artistic demands of professional dance. Minnesota Dance Theatre—Rumblings is sponsored by Target and supported, in part, by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin.
Rumblings is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15 in the Viterbo Fine Arts Center Main Theatre. Tickets are $23/$17. To order, contact the Viterbo University Box Office at 608-796-3100.
