TAP DOGS, "THE HOTTEST SHOW ON LEGS," COMES TO VITERBO
LA CROSSE, Wis.— Get ready for 90 minutes of rough, tough, rocking entertainment when Tap Dogs roll into town on Friday, Nov. 2 at the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center Main Theatre as a special added performance to this year’s Bright Star Season.
Featuring a cast of some of the best dancers from Australia, North America, and Europe, Tap Dogs takes the mystery out of tap and provides pure entertainment. Torn jeans, lunch pails, power tools, welding torches, and scaffolding make up the scene as these six guys turn tap upside down in an always intense, often irreverent industrial revolution of tap.
Created and choreographed by two-time Olivier Award-winner Dein Perry, the show features an original score by Andrew Wilkie. The music, performed on stage by two musicians, offers everything from fierce African beats to the smooth grooves of jazz all backed by the instrumentation of some serious toe tapping. The winner of 11 international awards, Tap Dogs premiered at the Sydney Theatre Festival in early 1995, moved on to London, and has been hit throughout North America since its debut at Montreal’s "Just for Laughs Festival" in 1996.
Tap Dogs is sponsored by WKBT-TV 8 and supported, in part, by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin. Tickets are $25. To order tickets, contact the Viterbo University Box Office at 796-3100
