THE MINEOLA TWINS COME TO VITERBO THEATRES

LA CROSSE, Wis.—The Mineola Twins, presented by the Viterbo University Theatre Arts Department, offers audiences a humorous look at the lives of two sisters throughout the decades.  The play will be performed at Viterbo’s La Croix Black Box Theatre Thursday through Monday, Feb. 22-26.

Written by Paula Vogel and directed by Lisa Newkirk-Reimler, assistant professor of theatre arts at Viterbo, The Mineola Twins has been hailed by The New York Times as "ingenious and creative."  Through the lives of identical sisters, Myra and Myrna, the play explores the issue of women’s roles starting in the Eisenhower ’50s through the Bush era of the ’80s. The twins who walk and talk alike definitely don’t think alike. One is a docile conservative, while the other is a radical liberal.  Although they seem to despise one another, they are constantly in one another’s dreams and thoughts.

"Though many issues are unearthed and discussed in the play, Vogel explores each using humor and absurdity. She recognizes that the human condition is ironic and funny, and fills her play with such moments," said Newkirk-Reimler.

Due to adult content, The Mineola Twins is recommended for mature audiences only. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $9. Call the Viterbo University Box Office at 608-796-3100 for more information.
