VITERBO UNIVERSITY TO HOLD AFTERSCHOOL ART WORKSHOP
LA CROSSE, Wis.—The Art Education Department at Viterbo University is offering an eight-week "Afterschool Art Workshop." The workshop is for children ages five to 12, and will be held in the Viterbo Fine Arts Center from 4:30-6 p.m., on Tuesdays, Oct. 17 through Dec. 12. (There will be no class held on Nov. 21).
All classes will be taught by Viterbo University Art Education students under the supervision of Lisa Schoenfielder, Assistant Professor, Viterbo School of Fine Arts. Students registering for this Workshop can choose one of the following classes:
- Making Books and Scrolls—students will write and illustrate stories using a variety of drawing and painting media to create artist’s books and scrolls.
- Creature Creations—students create real and imaginary animals, environments, and habitats using clay, paint, and other art media to produce artist’s books, paintings, prints, sculptures, and dioramas.
- Building Neighborhoods and Shopping Centers—with a variety of sculptural and building materials, students will construct houses, parks, playgrounds, and shopping malls.
- Weaving and Textiles—using a variety of materials and techniques students will make woven, stamped or dyed mats, rugs, scarves, wall hangings, and bags.
Enrollment in the "Afterschool Art Workshop" is limited. Classes will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, and registration must be completed before classes begin. A fee of $30 per student, payable at registration, will be charged to cover the cost of materials.
