TRINITY IRISH DANCE COMPANY KEEPS STEP ON THE VITERBO STAGE
LA CROSSE, Wis.—The world-famous Trinity Irish Dance Company will perform to a sold-out crowd at the Viterbo Fine Arts Center Main Theatre on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 7:30 p.m.
The originator of the Irish dance phenomena and at the cutting edge of performance, Trinity Irish Dance Company was the first ensemble to make the leap from competition to performance. Founded in 1990, Trinity Irish Dance Company is the world’s only nonprofit professional Irish dance company. Many of its dancers come from the prestigious Trinity Academy of Irish Dance, the Chicago/Milwaukee-based school that has seized an unprecedented number of gold medals for the U.S. at the World Championships of Irish Dance held annually in Ireland.
Through the work of Artistic Director Mark Howard, the company’s range and repertoire has exploded in a host of imaginative new directions. Howard juxtaposes breathtaking aerial grace with hard-driving percussive power and lightning-fast agility, bringing Irish dance to its rightful place on the world stage. The result is a surprisingly contemporary, thoroughly engaging artistic vision that has inspired other productions, such as Riverdance.
Trinity Irish Dance Company is part of the Viterbo Bright Star Season and is sponsored by WXOW-TV 19. It is supported, in part, by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin.
