VITERBO UNIVERSITY STUDENTS RECEIVE XCEL ENERGY WOMEN IN SCIENCE SCHOLARSHIP
LA CROSSE, Wis. – Melissa Katner of Roberts and Jenna Snively of Barron have each been named the winners of a $2,500 Xcel Energy for Women in Science Scholarship at Viterbo University.
Katner is a graduate of St. Croix High School and Snively is a graduate of Barron Area Senior High School. Viterbo created the scholarships with a $5,000 grant from the Xcel Energy Foundation. Incoming freshman women with at least a 3.5 GPA and a score of at least 23 on the ACT test who are majoring in science or math were eligible to apply for the scholarship.
Women are underrepresented in science, technology, engineering, and math disciplines throughout the nation, and Viterbo is committed to supporting women in science. The Xcel Energy Foundation typically funds “scholarships and intern programs focused in mathematics, science, and technical or environmental areas of study as they relate to the energy industry.”
