VITERBO UNIVERSITY TO HOLD GRADUATE COMMENCEMENT JULY 18
LA CROSSE, Wis. – Three hundred eighty-four students will receive a Master of Arts in Education degree from Viterbo University during a commencement ceremony at 2 p.m. July 18 in the Fine Arts Center Main Theatre on campus.
The educators, the majority from throughout the states of Wisconsin and Iowa, will be making La Crosse their home for a week (July 14–18) while they are on the Viterbo campus to present their research projects and to complete the final requirements needed to earn their Master of Arts in Education degrees.
Viterbo president Rick Artman will confer the degrees and faculty member Tom Thibodeau will deliver the commencement address. Anna Curtis ’06 will give the alumni welcome.
Area educators and members of the public are invited to join the students for a presentation by nationally renowned author and speaker Alfie Kohn, who will present “The Homework Myth” in the Fine Arts Center Main Theatre at 8:30 a.m. Friday,July 18. Kohn has been described in Time magazine as “perhaps the most outspoken critic of education’s fixation on grades and test scores.” He is the author of 11 books and has made appearances on the Today show and Oprah.
