VITERBO COLLEGE TO HOLD AFTERSCHOOL ART WORKSHOP
LA CROSSE, Wis—The Art Education Department at Viterbo College is offering an eight-week "Afterschool Art Workshop" on Tuesdays, October 12 through December 7 for children ages five to 12. (Classes will not be held on Tuesday, November 23.)
All classes are taught by Viterbo College Art Education students under the supervision of Lisa Schoenfielder, Assistant Professor, Viterbo School of Fine Arts. Students registering for this Workshop can choose one of the following classes:
- Drawing Dimensions—using perspective and other drawing strategies, students will explore ways to make people, places and things look real.
- Wild Things—students in this class will investigate the natural world of animals, environments and habitats, to produce artist’s books, paintings, prints, sculptures and dioramas. A variety of media including, clay and paint will be used.
- Wearable Art—with fashion design, fictive and cultural stories as guides, students will design articles of clothing, uniforms and costumes.
- Making Toys and Board Games—Using a variety of media including paint, clay and various other sculptural and building materials, students in this class will design and produce toys and games.
Enrollment in the "Afterschool Art Workshop" is limited to 48 students. Classes will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis and registration must be completed before classes begin. A fee of $30 per student, payable at registration, will be charged to cover the cost of materials.
