Ken Brekke joins Viterbo College as Sports Information Coordinator
LA CROSSE, Wis—The Viterbo College Athletics Department welcomes Ken Brekke to its staff as the new Sports Information Coordinator.
Brekke, who starts this new, part-time position on Tuesday, September 7, will coordinate sports information for Viterbo’s men’s basketball, soccer and baseball teams as well as women’s basketball, soccer, volleyball and softball teams.
Brekke is a 30-year veteran reporter for the La Crosse Tribune who retired in 1998. Brekke feels serving as Viterbo’s Sports Information Coordinator will "add challenge to my retirement and allow me to use the skills developed during 30 years as a writer, editor and page designer."
While at the La Crosse Tribune, Brekke served as reporter, copy editor, features editor, business editor and senior writer. He has authored several prize-winning stories and directed production on several award-winning sections of the paper. Brekke also has experience in research as well as writing, editing and producing books, brochures and newsletters.
He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism with a minor in history from the University of Wisconsin—Eau Claire and has additional training in management and marketing from Western Wisconsin Technical College in La Crosse.
"We’re excited about adding Ken to our staff," says Barry Fried, Viterbo College Athletics Director. "Ken has a wide-range of experience, a strong interest in and knowledge of sports and a commitment to Viterbo College that will certainly enhance our department."
