LA CROSSE, Wis. – Viterbo University assistant academic vice president Wayne Wojciechowski has been named the school’s interim academic vice president for the 2007–08 academic year by Viterbo president Rick Artman.

Wojciechowski will succeed current academic vice president Jack Havertape, who is retiring at the end of June. He will begin his new post July 1. The academic vice president is the senior academic officer of the university and is responsible for the leadership of all academic programs, both undergraduate and graduate, and the academic support areas.

“Wayne has been at Viterbo since 1978 and knows this academic community extremely well,” wrote Artman in an email to Viterbo’s employees. “He brings to the interim post a vast amount of experience, excellent relationships with the faculty and deans, and the respect of faculty, administration, staff, and students. Wayne has a deep commitment to our mission, Franciscan values, and to our students.”

A search for a permanent academic vice president will be conducted with the goal of having the position filled for the 2008–09 academic year.
