VITERBO THEATRE DEPT. TO PRESENT SEVEN DEADLY SINS MAY 5–6
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Theatre Department will present Seven Deadly Sins at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 5–6 in the Fine Arts Center La Croix Black Box Theatre.
Seven Deadly Sins, told through modern dance and music, is the story of a young Louisiana woman named Anna who is asked to go out into the world to help her impoverished family. A beautiful artist, Anna must make critical choices between remaining true to who she is or making money, choices that will affect her very soul.
Viterbo music theatre faculty members Karla Hughes and Nikki Balsamo will play the lead roles of Anna I and Anna II, respectively. Anna I is played by a soprano (Hughes), who represents the conscious mind, and Anna II is played by a dancer (Balsamo), who represents the sub-conscious mind.
Seven Deadly Sins is composed by Kurt Weill, with the libretto by Bertolt Brecht. In addition to Hughes and Balsamo, the cast will consist of Viterbo tenors, baritones, and dancers.
Tickets are $10 for general admission seating. For more information, contact the Viterbo University box office at 608-796-3100 or www.viterbo.edu/finearts1.aspx.
