VITERBO BRIGHT STAR SEASON TO OPEN WITH DRACULA SEPT. 20
LA CROSSE, Wis. – Viterbo University’s 2006-07 Bright Star season will open Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Main Theatre as the prestigious Royal Winnipeg Ballet brings the classic art form of ballet to life in this retelling of Bram Stoker’s legendary novel, Dracula.
This legendary tale takes place in Transylvania, as good battles evil in the form of vampire Count Dracula and his dark compulsions. The ballet succeeds in capturing the novel’s polarities – the vampire who is both repulsive and attractive, the scientist who must draw upon superstition, and women who range from weak and submissive to strong and independent.
Complete with flying bats, dancing gargoyles, and mysterious transformations, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet’s Dracula is contemporary ballet at its finest.
Tickets are $42 for main floor, $40 for lower balcony, and $35 for upper balcony seating. For more information, contact the Viterbo University box office at 608-796-3100 or http://www.viterbo.edu/finearts1.aspx.
