V-Hawk Orientation Days

August 26-28, 2016

Welcome, New V-Hawks!

V-Hawk Orientation Days is a great way to start your Viterbo experience. These events are in addition to Student Transition and Registration (STAR) events and aim to make students' transitions to college enjoyable and smooth. Studies show that students who attend and participate in orientation are more successful, more involved, and more knowledgeable about their campus than students who do not attend orientation programming. To ensure student success, attendance at V-Hawk Orientation Days activities is highly encouraged for all incoming first year students and transfers students who live on-campus.

V-Hawk Orientation Days begin on Friday, August 26 following New Student Move-In. Orientation programming will continue throughout the weekend and end on Sunday, August 28. The first day of classes is Monday, August 29.

During V-Hawk Orientation Days, new students will be assigned to a team with other new students and led through the weekend's events by an Orientation Leader. O-Leaders are experienced students trained to help you get started off on the right foot at Viterbo.

2016 V-Hawk Orientation Days Schedule

Each orientation team will have an individualized schedule with meeting times and locations. Students will learn more about the weekend's programs when they meet their orientation team on Friday, August 26. The overall program schedule will become available in early summer and will be posted on this website.

V-Hawk Orientation Days Highlights

Team Time helps you get connected to Viterbo's resources and other new students. During Team Time, you have opportunities to explore campus, learn about campus resources, and find out more about what it means to be a V-Hawk. Expect to have fun, meet new people, and learn a lot about Viterbo and La Crosse!

Faculty Meet and Greet will introduce you to your academic program and faculty within your academic program. Enjoy getting to know faculty members before classes begin.

"Take Back College" is a session led by Ryan Pennau, an award-winning First Year Experience and Orientation speaker who has spoken at college campuses across the nation. His keynote will focus on making the most of your college experience while you begin your adventure at Viterbo. Learn more about Ryan here.

VU After Dark Scramble will take place on Friday evening of V-Hawk Orientation Days. Are you wondering what your weekends might look like as a student at Viterbo? Check out a variety of VU After Dark events, such as Team Trivia, free bowling, and a movie that are similar to the year's lineup of VU After Dark events.

"The Hook Up -- When It's Hot and When It's Not" is a facilitated discussion and interactive session about hooking-up, sexual assault, and bystander intervention. This program will help new students learn about healthy relationships and the resources they have at Viterbo and in La Crosse.

Community Service opportunities are available for you to get to know your campus and community. Service is one of Viterbo's core values; what a great way to begin giving back to your new community by participating in a service project!

RECtation is your all-access late night open gym in the Mathy Center on Saturday evening. Learn about intramurals, get active, do some touring of the facility, and win great prizes.

Degree in Ninja: College Student's Guide to Study, Strike, and Succeed! is a book new students will receive at Student Transition and Registration (STAR) Day. Covering a variety of topics, the book provides the ultimate guide on how to make the most of your college experience. You'll be able to meet the author during his presentation, "Take Back College."
