The United States has had an outbreak of Enterovirus D68. There have been 153 confirmed cases at this time, including in Minnesota. This is a respiratory illness that mainly affects children and is spread like the common cold with coughing and sneezing. Those people with asthma tend to be hit harder with this virus. Here are some ways to protect yourself and your children: avoid close contact with sick people, wash your hands often, cover your coughs and sneezes, avoid touching your face with unwashed hands, clean and disinfect surfaces, and stay home when you’re sick. For more information, go to: http://www.cdc.gov/non-polio-enterovirus/about/EV-D68.html or contact Health Services at 796-3806 or firstname.lastname@example.org
