Gary Tyler, who was wrongly convicted of first-degree murder at the age of 17 and spent 41 years in Louisiana State Penitentiary, better known as Angola, will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20 in San Damiano Chapel at Viterbo University.
Viterbo University announces the creation of the Center for Professional Learning and Development, which will partner with regional businesses to create leadership development programs designed specifically to meet the business’ unique needs. These programs will be facilitated by university faculty and area business executives.
The public is invited to attend the world premiere of the documentary film Decoding the Driftless at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26 in the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center Main Theatre.

Today is Spirit Day Employee Jeans Day. Proceeds benefit the Staff Assembly Grant, which provides scholarships for students.

 

The deadline to nominate a student for the Outstanding Student Leader Award is today, March 6. Students, staff and faculty are invited to submit nominations. This award will be presented to three–five students at the Student Leadership Recognition Banquet. Written nominations must provide the name of the a senior student and evidence that she or he has: (a) exhibited continuous exemplary leadership, (b) served as well-respected role models, and (c) has persistently demonstrated a strong commitment to campus life, community service and/or charitable organizations. Written nominations will be accepted by Denise Homstad, student development administrative assistant.

Erin Hennessy, an 18-year-old Central High School senior and daughter of alumnus Kevin Hennessy, a former Viterbo admission counselor, has been diagnosed with Hodgkins’s Lymphoma. The Central girl’s basketball team is sponsoring a benefit next Friday to help with expenses. The Financial Aid office had a package delivered from Staples on Feb. 24. The package was signed for, so it is known to have arrived in the mail room. If anyone picked it up by mistake, return it to the financial aid offfice. There were yellow labels, hanging file folders, and two sets of letter trays.
