First Generation College Celebration Day at Viterbo is Wednesday, Nov. 8. On Wednesday, a banner, balloons, and treats will be located in the hallway outside the Academic Resource Center in celebration of the day. A large white board will also be available for students write a response to the prompt: “I’m going to college because…”

Prepare for the Nursing Career Fair Nov. 9 by visiting Career Services this week to have your resume reviewed and printed on resume paper, learn how to research the employers at the fair, and work on your 30-second elevator pitch. Career Services is in Murphy 374, office hours 9 a.m.–4:30 pm. Free, black folders also available to fair-goers.


Active Minds at Viterbo, a student organization devoted to raising awareness about mental health issues, will be hosting a discussion on ‘How to Cope with Change?’ Wednesday, Nov. 8 from 6–7 p.m. in Reinhart Center, Room 130. The Nutrition and Dietetics department at Viterbo is looking for adults ages 18-65 with a BMI of 24-40 who are interested in weight loss to participate in a free eight-week study to learn if a betaine supplement and no change in diet or exercise help to increase fat loss and muscle mass. Each Participant will also receive a free initial nutrition counseling and follow-up session. If interested contact Nathan Bedard at or 507-398-7104.


Following up from the Fundraiser for Puerto Rico a few weeks ago, there is a donation box available in the Murphy Center 5th floor between the 523 and 525 offices. Via Maribel Bird’s contact in Puerto Rico, donations will go to 10 families in the town of Humacao. Items needed include personal hygiene items, diapers, summer clothes, non-perishable food items, anti-mosquito items, bedding, water filters, and non-perishable food items.
