The Viterbo community is invited to attend the presentation “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Finals: A Student’s Personal Story of Drug Misuse” from 6–7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29 in Murphy Center 444. A current graduate student will be sharing his personal story and journey of substance misuse as study aids. Sponsored by the ATOD and Violence Prevention committee and Bill Bakalar’s Master’s in Mental Health Counseling class.


Students in the Nursing 390 Body Mind Therapies class are offering 15-minute massages Monday, Dec. 3 from 12:30–2:30 p.m.; Tuesday, Dec. 4 from 9–11am and noon–2 p.m.; Wednesday, Dec. 5 from 10 a.m.–noon and 1–3 p.m.; and Thursday, Dec. 6 from 9–11 a.m. in the School of Nursing Building room 204. Schedule a hand/arm massage; head, face, neck and shoulder massage; back massage; or foot massage with Jayne Oliver at indicating your date/time preference, cell phone number, and type of massage. No disrobing is necessary.


The Viterbo Art Club will host their annual Empty Bowls to Feed the Hungry event from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 in the School of Nursing Building lobby. Buy a $10 handmade bowl, fill it with homemade chili and then keep the bowl. Proceeds will be donated to a local charity.


United Nations of Viterbo will host a Chinese Meatball Fundraiser Thursday, Nov. 29 from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. in the School of Nursing Building Lobby. Two meatballs with rice for $3.


The accounting and finance club is hosting auditor Kevin Krysinski Thursday, Nov. 29 at 11 a.m. in Brophy Center 122. Everyone is welcome to listen to him share his experience and knowledge.


Visit the Viterbo Love Your Melon Crew in the Student Union from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28 to learn about the Pinky Swear Foundation and win a LYM Beanie.


Attend Holiday Cards, Movies, and Hot Chocolate at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29 in the School of Nursing Building 101. RSVP via the Viterbo app. Created holiday greeting cards will be given to residents at local long term care facilities. A holiday movie will be showing and complementary hot chocolate and apple cider will be provided. Bring a mug or tumbler with you. Supplies necessary for creating the cards will be provided, but if you have any extra supplies, bring them.


Students in Nursing 301: Death and Dying will host a Death Cafe from 5–6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29 in the School of Nursing Building Lobby. Everyone welcome and snacks and refreshments will be provided. The event is a directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives, or themes. The goal is to increase awareness of death to help people make the most of their finite lives.


The Advancement Office will help The Salvation Army with their Angel Giving Tree again this holiday season. Tags will be placed on the Christmas tree in Murphy Center Lobby by Tuesday, Nov. 20. If you take a tag, you are asked to provide for each child an outfit, including shoes. Include gift receipts for your purchase in case there needs to be an exchange for fit. Use a gift bag, securely attach the gift tag, and return to the Christmas tree no later than Thursday, Dec. 6. The Advancement team will get them back to the Salvation Army.


Did you know MDMA or ecstasy acts as both a stimulant and hallucinogenic causing mind-altering effects? Though often thought as a “safer drug” high levels of the drug can cause seizures and affect the heart’s ability to maintain a normal rhythm. Need help for stimulant misuse? Resources include Narcotics Anonymous, SMART Recovery, Viterbo University counseling, and other local counseling agencies.


Retiring Viterbo professor Larry Harwood will give a presentation reflecting upon life, his students’ lives, and where an education might be found today or any time at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28 in San Damiano Chapel. Everyone is welcome to attend.
