3:30–5:30 p.m. Countdown to Commencement – Fine Arts Center Lobby. Graduates pick up your cap and gown, order graduation announcements, record a Shout Out to your family and friends, mingle with other graduates and members of the Viterbo community to celebrate your graduation, complimentary hors d’oeuvres, refreshments and more. 4:30 p.m. Philosophy Club Meeting – Murphy Center 434. The topic will be Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings. Everyone welcome.

 

5–7 p.m. TNT Club Ornament Painting – Hawk’s Test. Everyone welcome to paint ornaments based on your major for the tree in the Fine Arts Center.

 

5–8 p.m. V-Hawks for Life Tie-Blanket Making – Reinhart Center Board Room. There will be pizza. The blankets will be donated to the warming shelter in La Crosse. Everyone welcome.

 

6–7 p.m. Minds@work Presentation “Medieval Franciscan Economists Endorse Wealth Accumulation and Market Economics” by Keith Knutson, history – Brophy Center 122. Everyone is welcome to attend and join the conversation. Sponsored by the English department.

6–8 p.m. Psychology Student and Alumni Social – School of Nursing Building room 195. A panel of Viterbo psychology alumni will speak about career and graduate school experiences, followed by a social hour. All students are invited to attend.

 

Today is the Great American Smokeout. Viterbo has been smoke-free campus since July 2014. Information on smoking cessation, e-cigarettes, vaping and more will be available as well as Judi Zabel from La Crosse County to answer questions from 3–5 p.m. today in the Student Union.

 

Bean Bag Tournament Participate in the Bean Bag Tournament Monday, Nov. 21 at the Mathy Center for a chance to win prizes. Register on Sportkfik.com by Friday.

 

Employees are invited to attend a soup lunch any time from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21 in the Fine Arts Center Hospitality Suite. Lunch includes soup (chicken and wild rice or vegetarian chili), bread, dessert, and drinks. Cost is $5 or $3 and a nonperishable food item for the Viterbo Food Pantry, payable at the lunch. Registration is not required. The event is sponsored by the Hospitality Committee.

 

Student Alumni Ambassadors and the Alumni Association are looking for volunteer face painters for the Alumni Children’s Christmas Party, Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9:30 a.m.–noon in the Fine Arts Center Lobby. If you enjoy working with kids, this is the event for you. All materials and templates are provided. Complimentary coffee, punch and cookies available. Online payments for student accounts through VitNet will be temporarily turned off for maintenance and upgrades starting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16. The expected downtime will be a few days. An announcement will be made when online payments are back in place. In the interim, students looking to make payments on their student account balances during this time can do so in person at the Business Office (Murphy Center 214), by phone with a debit/credit card (608-796-3850), or via mail (900 Viterbo Dr, La Crosse, WI 54601).

 

VU After Dark: Hypnotist Steven Stone will perform at 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18 in the School of Nursing Building 196.

 

The Viterbo Athletics 2017 Coupon Book is now available. The coupon book costs $13 and is filled with over 165 coupons from local businesses. They make great Christmas gifts. Purchase the books from Laura in the athletics department, any of the Festival Foods locations, and the La Crosse and Holmen Ace Hardware stores.

 

Staff and Faculty Women’s Bible Study will not meet this Friday so members can attend the Christian Prayer Service in San Damiano Chapel.

 

Student Activities Board is hosting a free 90s Throwback Roller Skating night Thursday, Dec. 1 from 7–9 p.m. at High Rollers in La Crosse. Sign up sheets are located in the Hawk's Nest, and sign up ends Monday, Nov. 28. Limited spots available.
