6 p.m. Dominate Your Debt – School of Nursing Building Collins Auditorium room 196. Author of Repayable: Student Loan Debt Solutions for Your Financial Freedom, Jeni Burckart will discuss student loans and ways to manage them. Sponsored by Altra Federal Credit Union in conjunction with Money Smart Week.

 

Join the FSPA at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 23, at the St. Rose Convent Courtyard to honor Earth Day 2018. It will begin with a prayer followed by a meditative walk around St. Rose Convent. If you’re unable to attend, join in spirit wherever you are. Follow the Earth Day Reflection created by the Catholic Health Association. In addition, all are invited to join the Earth Day Network's campaign to end plastic pollution.

Calling all distance runners: You are invited to join the Viterbo cross country teams for fall semester 2018. The teams offer flexible scheduling, a great opportunity to work out with your peers, and fun participation in team activities and outings. Scholars Days is Thursday, April 26–Saturday, April 28. Over 400 students are involved in various Capstone research projects, semester-long performances, and creative applications. Dietetics interns will be hosting a grocery store tour Wednesday, April 25 from 6–7 p.m. The tour will cover the importance of label reading and common marketing tools used to advertise products. The group will also discuss common barriers that are faced when introducing new foods into the diet as well as providing participants with education on how to eat healthfully on a budget. This event will take place at Festival Foods in Onalaska, 1260 Crossing Meadows Dr. Onalaska. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month: A collection jar for donations for the La Crosse Family Collaborative is located in the School of Nursing Building first floor office. Child Abuse Risk Factors: parents’ history of abuse, parents’ substance use, parents’ education level, socioeconomic status, community violence, family social isolation, lack of community resources, children under the age of 4 are especially vulnerable. Child Abuse Protective Factors and Signs: Good health and intelligence, easy temperament, strong family support systems, adequate housing, mid to high socioeconomic status, and supportive school system.
