VITERBO LEADERSHIP AT NOON SERIES TO FEATURE LA CROSSE LOGGERS OWNER DAN KAPANKE AND GENERAL MANAGER CHRIS GOODELL NOV. 18
LA CROSSE, Wis. – La Crosse Loggers baseball team owner Dan Kapanke and general manager Chris Goodell will speak as part of the Viterbo University Leadership at Noon series Tuesday, Nov. 18 in the Reinhart Center room 107.
The La Crosse Loggers, who play at Copeland Park, were founded in 2003. The Loggers are part of the thriving Northwoods League and are one of only two summer collegiate baseball teams to draw over 100,000 fans for eight consecutive seasons. Loggers’ alumni include Major League Baseball superstar pitchers Max Scherzer (winner of the 2013 American League Cy Young Award) and Chris Sale (a two-time All-Star).
As a young boy growing up on a small dairy farm outside of Coon Valley, Kapanke loved to play and watch baseball. He would go on to coach youth baseball in the La Crosse area for 15 years. Kapanke graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with degrees in economics and political science. He served in the Wisconsin State Senate and has been in the agriculture business for over 20 years.
Goodell has served as general manager of the Loggers since the team’s inception and has been involved in the Northwoods league for 15 years. He received the prestigious Northwoods League Executive of the Year Award in 2004 and 2012.
The Viterbo Leadership at Noon series features business leaders discussing the key values that contribute to successful business practices.
All Leadership at Noon series events are held from noon–1 p.m. in the Reinhart Center and are free and open to the public. Audience members are welcome to bring their own lunch or purchase a boxed lunch for $5. The Leadership at Noon series is sponsored by the D.B. Reinhart Institute for Ethics in Leadership and the Dahl School of Business at Viterbo University.
