Congratulations to Alayna Holderman, Connor Gavin, and Amanda Vetsch, who participated in the 2017 Midwest Undergraduate Data Analytics Competition held at Winona State University, under the advisement of John Robinson, business, and Sheldon Lee, math. This annual interdisciplinary event brought together more than 30 teams of undergraduate students from the upper Midwest. This year’s data was provided by Aeon, a nonprofit affordable housing developer based in the Twin Cities area. Students worked in teams of three or four and were given 24 hours to analyze the data and offer recommendations to Aeon on how they should direct their resources in order to best support their residents. The teams then presented results to the other teams and a panel of judges. Several local companies sponsored this event, and many brought representatives to do recruitment and also to serve as judges.
