Message from Viterbo’s Veteran student Clif Singelais MMC(SS), MSG(Ret): Let us celebrate the anniversary of the Oct. 13, 1775, the Congressional creation of the U.S. Navy. The U.S. Navy has an honored tradition of service and sacrifice for our nation since it’s creation. Heroes such as John Paul Jones, Stephen Decatur, Oliver Hazard Perry, and Chester Nimitz have persevered in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds and much better armed enemy fleets. As a former submariner I would request a moment of remembrance for the 52 submarines and crews lost in World War II and serving an “eternal patrol” for our nation and freedom.
