VU After Dark will be hold a pumpkin decorating contest Friday, Oct. 13 at 9 p.m. in the Caf. Creators of the top three pumpkins will receive a prize. Pumpkins and most decorating supplies will be supplied.

 

Viterbo theatre and music theatre students will present 9 to 5, The Musical Friday, Oct. 13–Sunday, Oct. 15 in the Fine Arts Center Main Theatre. Visit the box office for tickets.

 

A BloodCenter of Wisconsin blood drive will be held from 11 a.m.–4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17 in the Reinhart Center Board Room. Click to register. Walk-ins are also welcome. The drive is sponsored by Viterbo health services and the Viterbo Student Nurses Association.

 

The annual Viterbo Fall Choral Concert will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14 in Mary of the Angels Chapel at St. Rose Convent. The event is free and open to the public. Viterbo’s Concert Choir, 9th Street Singers, and Women’s Chorale, all directed by Brett Robison, music, will perform an eclectic collection of music exploring the most powerful human experiences—life, death, and love.

 

Viterbo alumna Katelyn Bouska ’08 will perform a piano recital at noon Saturday, Oct. 14 in the Fine Arts Center Nola Starling Recital Hall. Free and open to the public.

 

Viterbo dietetics is seeking adults ages 18–65 with a BMI of 25–40 who are interested in weight loss to participate in a free 8-week study to learn if a betaine supplement and no change in diet or exercise will help to speed fat loss and increase muscle mass. Each participant will also receive a free initial nutrition counseling and follow-up session. Contact Nathan Bedard at nbedar26754@viterbo.edu or (507) 398-7104.

 

VU After Dark has a few free tickets left for students to see the Platinum Edition Show at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 in the Fine Arts Center Main Theatre. To claim a ticket, sign up in the Hawk’s Nest.

 

Don’t forget to register to present/attend the Seven Rivers Undergraduate Research Symposium. Click here to register. The deadline to register is Oct. 27. Reminder to submit your poster printing as soon as possible.

 

Submissions are still being accepted for the Philosophy and Pop Culture Undergraduate Conference, Friday, Nov. 17 in the Reinhart Center Board Room. This year’s theme is Magical Realities and Fantasy Worlds. Students interested in presenting at this conference are asked to submit a short abstract (up to 500 words) and the title of their presentation to Robyn Gaier at rrgaier@viterbo.edu by Monday, Oct. 16. All students are welcome to participate. The conference will be free and open to the public.

 

Employees whose spouse or child will be graduating have the opportunity to present their diploma cover during commencement ceremonies. Any Viterbo employee interested in presenting a family diploma cover must notify Kori Salaski at kfsalaski@viterbo.edu by Monday, Oct. 16.
