11 a.m.–1:30 p.m. Transfer Student Appreciation Event – School of Nursing Building Lobby. National Transfer Student Week begins with this appreciation event for Viterbo’s transfer students. There will be a drawing for a gift card and a t-shirt. Stop by to meet for conversation with other transfer students and Viterbo staff. Today’s Transfer Trivia: 31 percent of new students starting fall 2018 are transfer students, and 31 percent of traditional students overall are transfer students.

 

5:30–6:30 p.m. Mindfulness Mondays – School of Nursing Building 104. Learn about mindfulness and how to incorporate the skills into your life. Come at any time. Snacks are provided.

 

7 p.m. Ethics Presentation by Rachel Lloyd, founder of Girls Educational and Mentoring Services (GEMS) and author of the book Girls Like Us: Fighting for a World Where Girls Are Not for Sale – Fine Arts Center Main Theatre

 

San Damiano Chapel will be closed today until 4 p.m. for a funeral. There will not be Mass today.

 

Kaise Aschliman, a human resource specialist with Acuity Insurance, will speak as part of the Viterbo Leadership at Noon series Tuesday, Oct. 16 in the Reinhart Center Board Room.

 

Help provide a safe and fun Halloween experience for the kids in the community. The Education Club invites you to participate in this year’s Safe Trick or Treat on Oct. 27 from noon–4 p.m. by decorating a paper door to hang in the Mathy center and handing out candy to local families as they go “door-to-door.” Candy and paper for your door are provided. SAB is looking for volunteers to scare in the annual Haunted House. The Haunted House will take place on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. Click to sign up. Free pizza will be provided for all volunteers.

 

Do you like fresh-cooked bacon, chocolate, or fanny packs? If the answer is yes, mark your calendar for Oct. 16 and plan to visit the Brophy Center patio between 9 a.m.–noon to chat with Acuity Insurance personnel as part of their College-2-Acuity Bacon Tour. Any junior or senior who presents a resume is guaranteed a phone interview. Acuity will also be participating in that day’s Leadership at Noon series. Open to all students and majors.

 

Registration for Speed Mock Interviewing is now open. This is your opportunity to get feedback from many professional and practice getting comfortable doing interviews. The event is Monday, Nov. 12 from 5:30–8 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Lobby. Go to ‘my events’ in Purple Briefcase to register today before spots fill up.

 

Viterbo has partnered with UW-La Crosse and Western Technical College to host a Take Back The Night rally against domestic violence and sexual assault. On Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m., meet at the clock tower (Hoeschler Tower) at UW-L. From there, participants will walk to Viterbo, participate in awareness activities, and then finish the march at Western Technical College with an open mic sharing opportunity. Tables will be set up to display school and community resources for survivors and victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. This event is open to the community and students are invited to take part in this event.

 

Ketogenic Research Study Participants Wanted: Viterbo students with a BMI between 22–27 are needed for a 30-day research study being done by dietetics interns. Participants will receive free nutrition education/counseling and free lab measurements such as body composition, blood pressure, and blood glucose levels. Students will need to keep a food diary and submit logs weekly. Contact Nicole McGuire at nmcgui70846@viterbo.edu or Vanessa Gottschalk at vgotts70862@viterbo.edu.

 

Employees: National Transfer Student Week is Monday, Oct. 15–Friday, Oct. 19. To celebrate Viterbo’s transfer students, the Center for Student Success is providing “I [heart] Transfer Students” buttons for employees who would like one to wear to show support for the university’s transfer students. Buttons can be picked up in the Center for Student Success in Murphy Center 337, from Sheila Severson, Missy Wells, Alyson Dahlquist, Renee Kastenschmidt, and Jayne Oliver in the School of Nursing Building.
